Threads of Hope

“Threads of hope” is an embroidery atelier made for women in the poorest area in Tripoli. Junior Shapers organized a set of embroidery training course with the most professional embroidery artist in the North of Lebanon for 8 unfortunate women in need. The juniors also prepared a small atelier at the facility of a local community center and most importantly, they are developing a solid the business plan with the mentorship of Global Shapers – Tripoli Hub for the atelier aiming at launching “Threads of Hope “ products in the Lebanese market with its first line of embroidered laptop bags.

Churfa

“Churfa” project was born because of the need for the city to increase its green spaces and to encourage all agriculture lovers to cooperate and exchange experiences.
“Churfa” is a small but complete agriculture project that offers the citizens an opportunity to have their own green space at home. Churfa provides a kit made of a beautiful planting pot for agriculture, best quality soil, plants, plant legs and a guide that tells how to care for and benefit from each plant.

Top Corn

 

 

Trying to create a job for a person with disabilities, the Junior Shapers of Top Corn team introduced 3 new flavors for the popcorn guaranteed for the best health standards. The team made 2 creative popcorn trolleys and invented healthy popcorn with three different flavors to be offered for two young men with disabilities and minimum education level so they can make their living.

Nawwer Darbon

Nawwer Darbon is a youth-led initiative which started in 2014 helping Tripoli high-school students and children dropouts enroll at schools through a celebration of flying lanterns in Fitr and Adha Eids. In its 7th edition, Global Shapers – Tripoli Hub and Junior Shapers will allocate the money raised from the lantern sales as tuition fees or fund intensive make-up courses to Tripoli youth and children. The new artisans


The initiative aims at revitalizing Tripoli handicrafts which are threatened of extinction through a series of ateliers organized by the Junior Shapers and the high-school students benefitting from the JSSP. The first two ateliers took place. One is for sewing basics and designs; the second is for traditional soap making. The final products were handmade burlap and colorful tissue designed with tiny soap shapes used to decorate small pillows and wallets. The youth are currently drafting a sustainability plan through more workshops, online platform and crowdfunding.

Together

togetherA seasonal initiative launched by the Junior Shapers and high-school JSSP students aiming at spreading and encouraging collaboration and joy while celebrating Eid in local communities, namely in popular neighborhoods.
With their white gloves, similar to their hearts, the youth stuffed, baked and packaged 130 kg of nuts and dates maamoul, then served them to 80 families with low-income in Tebbeneh, Jabal Mohsen and Kobbeh.
The youth are willing to sustain their initiatives through selling points mounted during local events, first of which Nawer Darbon event run by another group of Junior shapers.
