Education is the key.
Tripoli is the poorest coastal city overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. A 2012 ESCWA study shows that only 1% of youth in Tebbeneh (the most disfranchised neighborhood in Tripoli) graduate from high schools. This is mainly due to the poor education offered in public schools and to the difficult economic situation forcing those youth to either drop out from school for financial reasons or simply because they cannot afford to pursue their education. Those fortunate high school graduates, when taking any EEE test for universities’ admission, fail the test.
